Title: Plato Courseware 101: Getting Started at Pembroke Academy
Description:  Plato Courseware is a standards-based online learning program grounded in a tradition of solid research, sound pedagogy, and applied innovation. Plato Courseware provides the option of competency-based modules and full credit courses in a wide range of core subjects, electives, world languages, honors, and Advanced Placement® offerings. Unlike VLACS, which is an on-line charter school running independently from PA, we would be able to better control the students’ learning here, on site as well as utilize the software in more adaptive ways.  All PLATO Courses consist of integrated assessments; including exemptive pretests that allow learners to forgo content they have already mastered and focus on the concepts that need additional work. Course-level assessments also include tests for each course module to ensure concept mastery. This training is facilitated by an Edmentum:  PLATO Trainer and is recommended for faculty/staff at PA involved with In-House Suspension, Summer School, Literacy/Numeracy Labs, Academic Support classes, and Student Success Center Tutors.
Instructor:  Edmentum PLATO Courseware Trainer
