Objective: I will be able to analyze the significance and outcomes of a Supreme Court case
Directions: You will pick a landmark Supreme Court case from the list on the back which you will create a presentation (Google, Prezi, Powtoons, Metaverse) that will cover the following (Both MUST be presented to the class):
Problems/causes that led to the case
The Constitutional question raised by the participants in the case
The Supreme Court’s majority decision and any minority opinion (In other words, the opinion that most of the judges had and the opinion the losing judges had. If all of the judges agreed, state that there was no minority opinion)
The significance and impact of the case (How did life in the US change as a result of this case)
Part I. Background
In your project, make sure you convey all of the following information about your case
Who was involved?
What happened?
Where and when did it occur?
How & why was it brought to the Supreme Court?
Part II. The Supreme Court
In your project, be sure to describe and explain all of the following information about your case and how it moved through the Supreme Court
What was the Constitutional issue addressed by the case?
What was the Supreme Court ruling regarding your case?
Include the main arguments for both sides of the case (what the arguments from both sides of the court case, not court vs popular opinion).
What was the court’s decision? If all of the judges agreed, state this. If some of the judges disagreed, what was their opinion?
Explain why this is a landmark case.
