EQ: How fair was Roman Law?

Agenda (Document Handout)

• Using the graphic organizer write out what you remember about the three sets of laws

• Whole class review of what we already knew

• Watch the short YouTube video

• Work alone or in partners complete one of the “products” listed on the bottom of the graphic organizer

• Create a Political Cartoon about the fairness Roman Law

• Write a brief critique (like a letter to the editor) the fairness of the 12 Tables

• Compare the 12 Tables, Hammurabi's Code, and the 10 Commandments: Which set of laws is more enforceable? Which is more fair? Why?

• Revise the 12 Tables to fit a school setting

• Identify at least 3 common themes across these documents and create a poster to illustrate the importance of these identified legal issues

• Share work with at least one other person or group (post on EQ wall)
