32. Spirited Away (12/4W, 12/5G, 12/6W, 12/7G)

DAY 1: Start the class by handing out the “Spirited Away” packet and have them read the directions. The process of taking notes on the movie is the same as the one that they used for examining McDonald’s and daily life in South Africa. As they watch the movie, they are going to be jotting down the answers to two questions during the film. This will take the whole block, please have them hold onto packets until movie is done.

  • DAY 2: Finish watching “Spirited Away” as a class, and then have students finish the assignment by completing a joint poster (big or little) about the themes that they saw with examples (directions are on the front of their handout).

  • Once done with the poster, they need to write a CEA paragraph answering the question: How do people practice shintoism?

With any remaining time, they can finish up any missing work, like the “Japanese Schools” packet or missing/late assignments.
